Online Poker: Bluff your way to Success


...in other words they do not think that bluffing is possible while playing online.  Even though it is true that online bluffing may be more difficult and not quite as effective, it does not mean that it is impossible to do. 

If you want to become a master at bluffing during online poker games, you will first need to become familiar with the three different types of bluffs that you can utilize to your advantage.

A semi-bluff is when you bet on a hand that is worthless at the time, but has the potential to turn into something better.  The reason that this is considered a bluff is because the hand is currently as bad as they get, but at the same time you can foresee it turning into something that you can use.  As you get more experienced with online poker, you will become better at picking and choosing your spots to semi-bluff your competition.

A straight bluff or a stone cold bluff is one where you lay it all on the line without hesitation.  In other words, you bet a large amount of money all the while having cards that have no chance of winning.  Again, as you get to be more experienced with online poker you will be able to determine when the best time to pull this trick is.

You can also bet in two parts which can be quite effective during a game of online poker.  To do this you will want to raise your competition in the initial round of bets.  This will make the other players believe that you have a hand that could turn into a winner.  Make sure that you raise just enough so that you can trick some of the players at the table into folding; this will eliminate some of your competition right off the bat.  After you get your new cards, toss a lot of money in so that the other players think that you pulled what you need.  This technique takes a lot of skill, but if you can master it you will become much more effective while playing online.

In order to become good at bluffing while playing online poker you will need to practice.  It may not come easy at first, but over time you will learn when to bluff, as well as how to read bluffs.  Both of these aspects will allow you to become a better player, and subsequently win more money.
