When you walk into a casino or start playing online, what mind-set do you usually find yourself in? Such a mundane point actually has great importance to your overall results. Learning to always begin a gambling session, or anything in life, with a positive outlook is a crucial key to your success.

If you choose to gamble with a negative state of mind, what are your chances of success?  How many times have you played even when you thought you had no shot of winning?  For many it happens with shocking regularity. Sometimes the mind is so negative the player is thrilled to leave the table or machine just breaking even.

Even worse, players who have the wrong mindset can blow hundreds or thousands of dollars with little remorse.  If your playing and expecting to lose, money loses its true value and you lose proper perspective.  Three days after blowing a thousand dollars you probably will want to beat the crap out of yourself for being so careless.  However,  if you have a negative mindset when gambling, the money just doesn't seem to matter as much does it?

If you expect to lose, you probably will.  What's worse, when you expect to lose and then proceed to lose, it reinforces a negative as a positive in your mind.  Your mind has little ability to distinguish between imagination and reality.  The last thing you want to do is accurately predict a bad outcome. What's the point in taking credit for your own disasters?

From now on promise to yourself you will play expecting the best or not play at all.  Being positive and expecting a win won't guarantee you win today or in any given session, but what it will do is reinforce proper mindset.  Even if you choose to play a game with a negative expectation, the difference between  what you lose playing the best strategy and what you lose playing poorly can be huge.

Every time you sit down at a table or machine, think to yourself how good it feels to walk away a winner.  Each and every time just before you start enjoy a five second rush of how good you will feel when you have more chips than you started with or your account balance on your computer screen is higher than when you began. 

If you are playing a game where many decisions have to be made, confidence assists you in always making the right decision.  The last thing you want to be at a blackjack table is defensive.  Always make those splits and doubles when suggested by basic strategy, no matter how many hands you have lost in a row.  If you catch yourself saying something like, “I just knew I was going to lose that hand, just glad I didn't double down because I would have lost more,” then it is definitely time to exercise your solid discipline and leave. 

The truth is choosing the proper mindset is easy. Every player can recall winning sessions with ease.  Just wisely choose what thoughts to have before starting.  Crowd out thoughts about your lousy luck at the last machine by instead entertaining the happy thought of walking with a spring in your step because you won.

Perfect execution of any plan requires clear concentration, experience in handling tough decisions, perserverance knowing things will be better in the end, and just simple determination of knowing you are doing the right thing.  None of these offer room for a negative thought so get to work on never allowing them space in your mind when you're gambling.
