Summing up my series of articles on craps, I will give a suggested method to use at the craps table. My method gives the house a minimal edge over the player, yet offers plenty of excitement and opportunity to leave with a big score on occasion.

Casino Craps Methods

One of the keys to remember as a player is you always have the advantage of choosing what to play, how much to play it for, and most of all when to leave.

The Internet has leveled the playing field somewhat, allowing players to have casino games available anytime.  Proper use of this “amenity” is important however so going forward do yourself a favor and always plan out your play no matter what games you choose.

I happen to choose craps as my gambling game because it offers excellent odds when played correctly, lots of excitement, and the ability to hit the occasional big score.  Don’t get me wrong, playing craps with a plan doesn’t guarantee I will come out ahead over time, but compared to other games it gives me the best chance to meet my goal of entertainment within a reasonable cost.

With that said, here is my plan for playing craps. Find a table with 5 times odds if possible.  Start out with one unit on “pass” and one unit each on two “come” numbers.  Back each with 3 times odds.  If you win 3 times with full odds, move onto the following progression.  Move up one step with each two winning numbers.

        1.    1 unit each, 4 times odds.
        2.    1 unit , 5 times.
        3.    2 units, 3 times.
        4.    2 units, 4 times.
        5.    2 units, 5 times.

If you have been fortunate to reach the last level, you will have caught 13 numbers which won't happen often.  At this point you should protect your profits a bit by regressing back down the same scale.  On reaching your 13th number, move back down to 2 units with 4 times odds and so on.  Getting back to your original bet will almost never happen, but hey dreams are what make gambling popular.

For a more conservative approach, one simple change is needed.  Instead of backing your bets with odds from the beginning, count off five rolls of the dice after a point is made before backing all your bets with odds.  If the table is cold, it usually sees a 7 quickly and therefore your losses are minimized under this more conservative method.  Note this gives the house no additional edge against you, but it does reduce the likelihood of progressing significantly should you catch a hot shooter.

No matter which method you choose, you are giving the house a minimal edge while controlling when you are playing and when you are leaving.  You don’t have to endure cold rolls, but can stay in the game as long as the dice are cooperating.  You will have many aborted attempts at a hot roll ending in failure just as you start pocketing some profits.  However when the truly hot roll comes along you will leave the table with many times your original buy-in.

Some believe these methods are how you beat the casino.  Don't buy into such ideas.  These methods only bring sensibility to your efforts to have fun and catch a nice winning  every now and then.  They give you better control over your game and this is half the battle in making sure you keep casino play entertaining.

Best of luck with the game, may you find the hot shooters both online and in your favorite casino.
