First of all I feel it is necessary to define a Blackjack Moron. He or she is someone who makes inexcusable decisions at the table; not only affecting the outcome of the hand by also baffling the rest of the participants. I will illustrate by giving you some first hand examples of what I have witnessed.
I find it impossible to fathom why anyone on this planet would be satisfied with a soft 16. If the dealer does not bust, any hand the dealer gets you will automatically lose. Since the dealer will keep drawing until they get 17. Also with a soft 16, it is not feasible to think you can possibly hurt this hand with a card. Five out of thirteen cards will improve your hand. Four possible cards will keep it the same. Therefore you nine out of a possible thirteen cards will improve or keep your status the same. The other four will decrease your hand, but your hand was crap in the beginning so it does not hurt to try to improve it.
The other scenario I find to be completely infuriating, are people who split 20. This is dumbest thing I continually see. You have a potential winning hand and you jeopardize it by creating two hands in the hopes you can manage to get two hands of 20. Well let me tell you, I have yet to see this occur even once. The unfortunate thing is I have seen players try on far too many occasions to do this.
The best suggestion I can offer when confronted by any of the aforementioned scenarios is to walk away from the table while giving the guilty practitioner a contemptible glare. It is worth it to cut your losses than risk endangering your bank roll or your blood pressure.
Happy Gaming!
